The otter came back to our neighbor's pond for a brief fishing foray this week. They travel up the hillsides from the rivers and creeks to hunt in ponds when they can't find enough to eat.
It was very brave and swam around in the middle of the pond, growling occasionally while Bodhi and I watched. We didn't bother it, and after a few minutes just continued on our walk.

Yesterday, while Joe and I were enjoying an after-work drink up by the garden, Bodhi was busy keeping an eye out for intruders, but he missed an entire family of bears that was marching down the hillside across from us. It was the second time this week that I saw the mama and her two cubs.
